National Land Cover

The U.S. Geological Survey Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center has been a member of the Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics Consortium (MRLC) since its inception in 1993. One of the goals of this cooperative mapping effort is to produce a state-of-the-art, nationally consistent, land cover database for all 50 states and Puerto Rico. This National Land Cover Database (NLCD) contains standardized land cover components useful for a variety of applications.
