Do I need Java to run the BDA??

Official Java packages from Oracle are required to run this application. You need to install the Oracle version of JRE (Java Runtime Environment), which can be found at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html. This is not only a requirement for the BDA to run smoothly, but also a requirement based on the USGS guidelines for security

I do not have read and write privileges to install the BDA on my computer in the default directory. What should I do??

The BDA writes a configuration file that stores application settings to the installation directory. Without write privileges on the installation directory, the BDA is unable to write this configuration file. You should install the BDA to a directory that is known to be writeable, such as My Documents on Windows..

You need to click the folder icon in the upper right of the application and select a destination for which you have appropriate file permissions to write data..
